This was the one I selected, primarily due to its ability to make five different styles of rice (porridge, sushi, ordinary, shorter cooked ordinary, and brown. I really didn't need all the capacity. Normally I make 1 to 3 cups. This was a year and a half ago, so the machine cost almost twice as much as it does now. I was delighted with it, and it is still doing regular duty. For most purposes you select how you want the rice cooked. Press start, and walk away. Come back in about an hour, and everything is just perfect. I have since mastered its ability to set customized cooking times and have been making everything from Rice-a-Roni to chicken curry. I really would hate to be without it. It's still four times what a cheap cooker costs, but I think you will find the difference worth it in the long run. going fast-glad I got one Date: 2006-01-04 | Rating: 5 I have been wanting a fuzzy logic rice cooker for some time and decided to get one of these. It looks like they may be about to be discontinued as the price keeps going down and Panasonic is not coming out with a newer model to compete with the newer Zojirushi's. I bought it because I like Panasonic and the price was right. This is a nice 5 cup model with regular rice, quick, reheat, porridge, and steam functions. It comes with a nice steam basket and measuring cup. So far, it have had nothing but perfect rice in it, although the wait is a little longer than the traditional old style cookers. It is easy to clean with no removable parts. The bowel is roomy and nonstick. It is a traditional white enclosed design that is more compact than the picture looks. I think I got a good deal on a fuzzy logic cooker from a well-thought-of company. Get one while you can! Great rice cooker! Date: 2005-02-17 | Rating: 5 This is my first rice cooker, although I've used my friend's so had the basic idea of what they could do. I can't believe how easy this thing is and how perfect everything comes out! With nothing required from me in terms of figuring out how long to set it (although I've learned to start it early since it does a nice job of keeping the rice warm, and that works better than having dinner ready but np rice!) I've done a bunch of different rices, even some boxed rice like cheesy rice and it always comes out great. I don't find the cooker hard to clean at all, although you do have to be sure not to scratch the inside of the pan with metal utensils. This isn't the roomiest so if you have a big family, might not be for you, but for cooking for a small number, it's great. Great Product!!! Date: 2007-02-23 | Rating: 5 I love this one which I have it for 3 years now. It offers a lot of good features so I think it's too good for the price. I have an infant and a todler which most of my times are for them. I need to puree a lot of baby food. This wonderful cooker helps a lot. Beside cooking rice beautifully and keep it warm. The pordrige feature does a good job in cooking chicken vegtable noodle soup (or rice pordrige) in just about 1/2 an hour. The slow cook feature does an excellent job and save me a lot of time. The steam feature helps a lot in steaming vegtable while cooking the rice....I LOVE it. I just put everything in the pot, set the time and choose the feature I want, then go on working and take care my children. I would highly recommend it. In fact, I'm looking to buy another one for my MOM and write this comment while I'm at it. I bought mine at an asian market named Marina Food. Good luck. Good Rice Cooker Date: 2004-12-19 | Rating: 4 UPDATE after 2 year's of ownership: the inner container of the unit is not as durable as that of Zujiroshi. It developed scratches after 1 year. We used the Zujiroshi unit more often and it is still smooth like new. UPDATE after one month's use: the unit also works as a slow cooker and a steamer. Cleaning is no problem. Better than I had expected. Better than my old 3-cup Zujiroshi. 5-star it should be. I bought this unit since my old 3-cup Zujiroshi one is not big enough for my family any more. The price is much lower than that of a Zujiroshi counterpart on Amazon. After using it for two days, I gave it 4 star since its design is not as convenient as my old Zujiroshi. First, Zujiroshi is easier to clean. It has a inner top lid that can be taken off and rinsed. The lid of this product will not come off and I can only wipe it. Second, Zujiroshi has a metal cooking pan and you can use it to rinse rice. This one has a plastic coated pan and the instruction manual says that you should use a different container to rinse rice. Despite these minor drawbacks, this is still a good rice cooker and we will keep it.
